Construction Plant Certification Scheme (CPCS) card proves that you are competent in operation of the vehicles you use and have health and safety awareness. Most contractors and clients now demand proof of competence, before allowing workers onto their sites, which is provided by a CPCS card, not having a CPCS card may affect your ability to work on Major Contractor’s sites.
The Plant Manager Safety Training Refresher Course is intended for delegates who currently hold a valid Plant Manager Safety Training Certificate or a valid Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate (original or refresher). Once the certificate has been acheived it needs to be renewed every 5 years by attending the PMSTS Refresher Course. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace.
The Plant Managers' Safety Training Course is designed to help plant managers, instructors, agents and supervisors to manage health and safety on site in accordance with legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory roles. This course will help develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare and recognise a safe site, training area, workshop area that is efficient, economical and productive.
Since the early 1990’s the Major Contractors Group (MCG) have been asking for their and their supply chain employees for proof of competence before allowing them access to site. This has been, in the majority of cases, individual ownership of a CPCS card. It was quickly identified that much of the very experienced workforce could be lost to the industry as many of them had picked up their skills over many years, without the need for a qualification!
