This is a hands on practical course with in-depth training and practical assessments to meet legal requirements for excavating in the highway.
Who’s the course for?
This course is for any operative working on or adjacent to the public highway, carrying out excavation, backfill and reinstatement operations.
Course Aims and Objectives
The course provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform operative duties to the standards laid down by the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991. On successful completion of the full course delegates will receive a certificate and Scotvec Card.
Course Content
Unit 001 – Location and avoidance of underground apparatus
Unit 002 – Signing, lighting and guarding
Unit 003 – Excavation in the road/highway
Unit 004 – Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
Unit 005 – Reinstatement of sub-base and road-base in non-bituminous materials
Unit 006 – Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials
Unit 009 – Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways
All delegates should bring with them the following P.P.E: Safety shoes/boots, Workwear, Gloves, Hi Vis coat or vest, Hard Hat.
