This programme is designed for managers, supervisors and operatives who use, or oversee the use of, powered access equipment in a work environment. This course is approved by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).

Delegate Eligibility/Entry Requirements
Delegates attending this course must be aged 18 or above and be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training. It is also important that delegates who attend this IPAF course have a good understanding of written and spoken English.

Aims & Objectives 
This course aims to enhance the delegate’s skills at a practical level and provide them with knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to safe working practices (including why accidents happen and how they can be prevented).

The IPAF Scissor and Boom (Duel Category) course covers the following:
• Introduction to IPAF
• Health and safety legislation and regulations
• Operator responsibilities
• Safe operating guide
• Safe use of Mobile Elevating Working Platforms (MEWPS)
• Pre-use checks
• Safe working environments
• Machine familiarisation
• Pre-start safety checks and function controls
• Operating the machinery

Course Delivery
This programme is delivered using a blend of classroom-based tutorials and practical activities to support the effective operation of the machinery.
Delegates must successfully pass both a theory and a practical assessment to be awarded the IPAF Photo ID card and Certificate. Successful delegates will receive the official IPAF Safety Guide Logbook.

Additional Information
The content of this course includes awareness of the periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide full training in the maintenance of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates. Further information is available upon request.

Practical exercises will not include falls of any kind

An IPAF Photo ID card and certificate will be awarded to successful delegates. The IPAF Photo ID card and certificate are both valid for 5 years.
